Throw back Thursday.... Afghanistan's history.

This was a picture taken in Afghanistan in the 1950's

The Afghanistan government was shifting towards democracy in the 1950s and 60s before the Taliban took over. Women could work, become educated, dress casually and use many of the modern day services that men could.

Isn't it strange looking at this and thinking this is the same place that for the last decade or so Woman have been killed for even stepping out their homes without a male family member to "guard them"
